Power generation in three units of Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited has been suspended as a fire broke out at a sub-station here on Friday afternoon. M Sazzadur Rahman, director (Technical) of the power station, said the fire erupted due to an oil leakage at the 11 KV transformer of a switchyard of the sub-station around 3pm. On information, two units of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze around 4:45pm, said Monirul Huda, duty officer at Ashuganj Fire Service. Meanwhile, the production of about 260 MW power in three units of the power station remained suspended following the fire incident, said company’s managing director Nurul Alam. Efforts are on to repair the transformer and resume the power generation again, he added. — UNB
