A fire broke out at Khan Market in the city’s Chawkbazar area on Saturday afternoon. It originated from the ground floor of a five-storied building at Chawkmugholtuli around 1:30pm.
The reason behind the blaze could not be known, Fire Brigade sources said.
Four fire fighting units rushed to the scene and doused the flame in half an hour time.
The extent of damage could not be known immediately, they further said.
An officer of Fire Service confirmed the matter over phone.
