Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said on Sunday that a Financial Reporting Council under the Financial Reporting Act 2015 would be constituted before end of this year.
Muhith said this when a nine-member delegation of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) led by its President Arif Khan met the minister at his secretariat office.
The ICMAB president thanked the minister for his continuous support to the development of cost and management accountants (CMA) profession in Bangladesh.
He also updated the minister about the general affairs of the Institute and role of CMA professionals in trade, business, industry, service sectors and the overall economic development process of the country.
The president of the institute urged the minister to engage more professional CMAs as independent director in the board of different public sector entities.
The minister assured full government’s support to the Institute and asked the ICMAB delegation to work hard with ethics and professional integrity to help graduate Bangladesh to be a middle income country.
Past Presidents of the Institute M. Abul Kalam Mazumder, Mohammad Salim, ASM Shaykhul Islam, Vice Presidents Jamal Ahmed Choudhury, Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Secretary Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Treasurer Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala and Executive Director of the Institute Md. Mahbub Ul Alam were present in the meeting.
