Renowned filmmaker and screenwriter Giasuddin Selim’s upcoming feature film Paap Punno officially began its promotion from Channel i’s 21st anniversary celebration event on Wednesday.
The film is produced by Impress Telefilm, a sister concern of Channel i.
The film’s cast, which includes Afsana Mimi, Siam Ahmed, Farzana Chumki, Sumi, led by Selim arrived at the event held at Channel i headquarters on Wednesday evening. Impress Telefilm Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagor then announced the beginning of the film’s promotional campaign.
Sagor said: “We would like to officially begin the promotional campaign of Paap Punno on the day of Channel i’s birthday.”
Selim said: “If all goes well then we would like to release the film on February 7.”
“I think Paap Punno will be a very important film in the 69-year-long history of Bangla films. I would like to thank Faridur Reza Sagor for producing such a film in these distressing times of our film industry,” he added.
One of top actresses of the country Afsana Mimi said: “I have returned to the big screen after a very long time with Paap Punno. I am very excited about this project as all of us have worked on this project very passionately and with great joy. So, wait a bit more to see this reflection of joy on the screen as we are waiting too.”
The film will also star Fazlur Rahman Babu and Chanchal Chowdhury in central roles.
This is the third feature film directed by Giasuddin Selim.
He previously directed blockbuster hits Monpura in 2008 and Swapnajaal in 2018. Selim also won two National Film Awards- Best Story for the film Adhiar in 2003 and Best Screenplay for Monpura in 2008.
