The fortnight-long Bangladesh Film Festival-2015 ended here on Thursday with a call for creating awareness against social superstitions in building a peaceful and prosperous nation. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organized the festival in association with the District Shilpakala Academy since December 10.
A discussion was held on the concluding day at District Shilpakala Academy auditorium in the city with its General Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul in the chair. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim attended it as chief guest.
Representative of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Rakibul Hossain, cultural personalities Biplob Prashad, Monwar Hossain and Razzaque Murad addressed the discussion, moderated by Joint Secretary of District Shilpakala Academy Arif-Uz-Zaman Arif.
District Cultural Officer Nuzhat Tabassum Rimu delivered the welcome speech.
The speakers called for reaching the message of the War of Liberation among the younger generations to motivate and inspire them with secularism and concept of national peace and prosperity.
The chief guest highlighted the successes achieved by Bangladesh in all sectors and said the country will become a middle income nation before 2021 if the present pace of uplift is continued.
He called for projecting the facts and information both at home and aboard through films and creating awareness against all sorts of curses and religious dogma.
‘Dance reflects identity of culturally rich nation’: Dance, an indispensable part of Bengali culture, glorifies and reflects emotion, feeling, cultural identity, humanism and lifestyle of the culturally rich Bengali people.
Renowned cultural personalities gave the observation on Wednesday afternoon at the inaugural ceremony of a three-day Rangpur Divisional Workshop on Dance at District Shilpakala Academy auditorium in the city.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with District Shilpakala Academy and local dance promoting organisations arranged the workshop being participated by male and female dance artists, dance trainers and experts and cultural personalities.
Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht attended the inaugural ceremony and formally launched the workshop as the chief guest with General Secretary of Rangpur Nrittya Shilpi Sangstha Professor Azizul Islam in the chair.
General Secretary of the District Shilpakala Academy and noted cultural personality of the city Tauhidur Rahman Tutul addressed the occasion as the special guest.
Noted dancers, including Directors of ‘Nrittyanchol’ from Dhaka Shibley Mohammad (Kathok Nrittya) and Shamim Ara Neepa (Creative Dance) and Professor Dr Soma Mumtaz of Jahangirnagar University have been conducting the workshop. Joint Secretary of District Shilpakala Academy S M Arif-Uzzaman-Arif also attended the inaugural ceremony moderated by its Vice-president of the District Shilpakala Academy Abdul Mazid Hiru.
Officials and executives of ‘Chhonde Anande Nrittya Niketan’, ‘Rinijhini Nrittya Academy’, ‘Nupur Nrittya Academy’, and local dance artists and organisers have been assisting the organisers in conducting the workshop.
After discussion in the inaugural ceremony, the participating dance artists rendered colourful dances charming a huge number of audiences of all ages of the divisional city.
