FIFA president Gianni Infantino will visit both Russia and Qatar next week, the hosts for the next two World Cups, football’s world governing body announced on Friday.
The Italian will be in Russia, where the 2018 finals will be held, from April 19 to 20, before visiting controversial 2022 hosts Qatar from April 20 to 22.
“The FIFA president will begin his two-day stay in Russia with a visit to the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, which will host the opening match and the final of the 2018 World Cup,” FIFA wrote in a statement.
The statement also said that Infantino would then meet members of the Qatari government and the organising committee in Doha.
