Field day of BRRI Dhan-62, a zinc-enriched paddy variety was held at Sadarupazila and Raninagar of Naogaon district recently.
The programme was respectively with the financial support of CIAT and IFPRI, and the program also implemented by Harvest Plus Bangladesh and AIHD. About 300 farmers were attended in the field day.
Brridhan-62, a zinc-enriched paddy variety, has gained popularity among farmers in Bogra, Noagoan districts including its vast Barind tract during the current transplanted Aman. Sources said in Naogaon Sadar BRRI dhan62 yielded about 4.9 t/ha which was better than any other earliest variety cultivated in T-aman in this area.
Farmers were happy cultivating this variety due to its short duration, high yield with slender grain. They can also practice early potato or Rabi crops after harvesting this earliest rice variety. Md. Zakiul Hasan, Agricultural Research and Development Officer informed the statistic.
Additional Deputy Director SM Nuruzzaman Mondal was present as a Chief Guest on the occasion.
