Treat FIBA Asia U-18 Basketball tournament qualifying round begins tomorrow (June 1) at Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium at Mirpur in the city.
Ashok Kumar Biswas, Secretary of National Sports Council, will inaugurate the two-day meet as the chief guest. Apart from hosts Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka will take part in the two-day meet.
Treat Dairy Milk Chocolate and Fruitfill Gum of PRAN Confectionary Limited is the main sponsor of the tournament while Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) organizing the meet.
Addressing at a press conference today (Monday) at the Bangladesh Olympic Association, BBF general secretary AK Sarker said the winners of the qualifying round will be eligible to participate in the U-18 FIBA Asia Championship scheduled to be held in Iran from July 15-25.
AKM Moinul Islam Moin, head of marketing and sales of PRAN Confectionery Ltd said, Bangladesh is doing well in sports especially in cricket. He also expressed his hope to remain with other Bangladesh sports events.
