Freedom fighters held agitation rally and formed human chain demanding immediate arrest and punishment of BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman in protest of his derogatory comment about father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The demand comes following Tarique’s derogatory remarks about Bangabandhu
Freedom fighters under Barisal command of district Muktijoddha Sangsad forming human chain in front of Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall and holding agitation rally handed over memorandum to prime minister through district administration to realise their demand.
The rally was presided over by Mokhlesur Rahman, city commander of the Sangsad and addressed among others by Syed Anisur Rahman, publicity secretary, Enayet Hossain Chowdhury, organising secretary of the Sangsad.
Speakers at the human chain alleged Tarique Rahman is hatching conspiracy against the country from London.
The speakers said Tarique while addressing a programme in London on December 15, called Bangladesh’s founding president Bangabandhu a “Razakar,” a term which has become synonymous with a collaborator or traitor of the Pakistani military since the 1971 Liberation War.
Tarique also defaming Bangabandhu said he would be called as ‘Pakbondhu (friend of Pakistan”, instead of ‘Bangabandhu (friend of Bangladesh)
All freedom fighters joined in liberation war as per call and leadership of Bangabandhu and he is the father of our nation. So freedom fighters and pro-liberation forces could not play a silent role in this regard, the speakers told
Tarique like foolish, immature and mentally imbalanced person, continuously defaming and distorting history of liberation war, role and sacrifices of freedom fighters, leaders of liberation war.
The audacity of Tarique could not be forgivable and he should be punished for stopping his arrogances, the freedom fighters demanded.
BSS from Faridpur adds: Faridpur district Muktijoddhya command council organized a protest rally and formed a human chain yesterday in the city against Tareque’s derogatory remarks over the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman recently in London.
About five hundred freedom fighters and representatives of various socio-cultural organizations were present in the rally.
Speakers said that Tareque has become mentally sick and he is deliberately distorting history to undermine the contributions of Bangabandhu in the liberation war.
