State minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru said country’s freedom fighters (FF) are the valiant sons of the soil as they liberated the country from Pakistani occupation forces through a bloody struggle in 1971.
“Valiant FFs took part in the liberation struggle with their mind-set to embrace martyrdom for freeing the country from the occupation forces at the call of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’ he said this on Monday while distributing cheques among 51 FF of the district at Netrakona Press Club.
Chaired by Assistant Commissioner of land Netrakona sadar upazila Ershad Ahmed, the function was addressed, among others, by former Commander of district Muktizoddha Sangsad Nurul Amin, ex-Commander of Muktizoddha Sangsad, Netrakona sadar upazila unit Ayub Ali, Labour Affairs Secretary of Awami League ,Netrakona district unit Gazi Muzammel Hussain Tuku and General Secretary of Netrakona Press Club Shamolendu Paul.
Each FF got a cheque amounting to TK four thousands from the personal fund of the state minister.
