The government has distributed over Taka 8.98 crore as allowance among 749 freedom fighters (FFs) of the district during the last 2015-2016 fiscal year.
Department of Social Service (DSS) distributed Taka 8,000 per month (July to Dec-2015) and Taka 10,000 per month (January to June- 2016) as allowance to each freedom fighter to help them lead a better life.
Deputy Director of DSS Salim Sah said freedom fighter allowance distribution is a successful programme of the present government and the beneficiaries got their respective allowance timely through their own bank accounts in a hassle-free manner.
