The government has distributed over Taka 3.70 crore as allowance among 771 freedom fighters (FFs) of the district during the last six months in the 2015-16 fiscal year.
Department of Social Welfare distributed Taka 8,000 per month (July to Dec-2015) as allowance to each freedom fighter to help them lead a better life.
From January-2016 the freedom fighters will get Taka 10,000 each as the allowance from the government.
Deputy Director of the department Nur Mohammad said the freedom fighters are being given the allowance as a mark of deep respect to them.
