Freedom fighters, professionals and civil society members here have favoured formation of a high-powered commission to unveil masks of conspirators at home and abroad behind assassination of Bangabandhu.
They put maximum importance on bringing back fugitive killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for executing court’s verdict against them to stop conspiracies against the country, its people and sovereignty.
“The anti-liberation forces are still hatching conspiracies to hinder progress when the nation is realising Bangabandhu’s dream of building a Sonar Bangla,” former Commander of Rangpur district unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad (BMS) Mosaddek Hossain Bablu told media. He strongly favoured formation of a commission to probe into assassination of Bangabandhu to find out masterminds behind the carnage and make investigation report public so that the nation and world as a whole could know real history.
“Assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members was a deep-rooted conspiracy of the defeated anti-liberation forces of 1971 to reverse independence, sovereignty and spirit of the War of Liberation,” Bablu added. Former Kurigram district unit Commander of BMS Sirajul Islam Tuku said common people were stunned on August 15 in 1975 listening to radio broadcasting assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members by some unruly army men.
“The killers of Bangabandhu and their local and alien conspirators wanted to reverse our hard-earned independence that we achieved by defeating the Pakistani Army and winning the War of Liberation,” he said. Thought trial of the killers of Bangabandhu was completed and some of the killers were executed, but some others are still absconding and masterminds behind the assassination remaining unidentified, he said. “Formation of a high-powered commission has become a demand of the time to investigate into assassination of Bangabandhu, the report should be made public and all masterminds and conspirators must be exposed to justice,” Tuku added.
Shawkat Ali Sarker, Bir Bikram, said Bangabandhu just engaged himself in restructuring the war-torn nation in spirit of the War of Liberation when he was assassinated at that crucial time of building the nation. “To make our national sovereignty safer, the government should form a commission to unveil masks of all masterminds behind assassination of Bangabandhu,” said Shawkat, also chairman of Chilmari upazila in Kurigram. General Secretary of Rangpur district unit of Ghatok-Dalal Nirmul Committee Moazzem Hossain Lablu said the anti-liberation forces in collaboration with their masterminds hatched conspiracy to assassinate Bangabandhu as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy.
“The present government should form a commission for probing into Bangabandhu’s assassination to unveils masks of all masterminds and bring back fugitive killers of Bangabandhu for their quicker execution to free the nation from the stigma,” Lablu said.
President of Rangpur Gobeshona Parishad Professor Mozammel Haque said the anti-liberation conspirators assassinated Bangabandhu, the most popular world leader of all time, stunning the nation and the whole world at dawn on August 15, 1975.
“The perpetrators wanted to bury spirit of the War of Liberation aiming at reviving Pakistan by killing Bangabandhu and most of his family members,” Professor Haque, also a researcher and former Treasurer of Begum Rokeya University, said.
However, the nation has completed trial of the killers of Bangabandhu foiling all conspiracies, executed most of them and the process of bringing back absconding killers continues to execute them for freeing the country from the stigma.
“Without unmasking masterminds behind assassination of Bangabandhu, the nation will remain unknown about our true national history,” Professor Haque said favoring formation of a stronger commission to unmask saboteurs. President of Rangpur Chamber Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu said Bangladesh is now on the highway of development to build a Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu under leadership of his able daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Bangladesh would become a developed country long ago if Bangabandhu was alive,” he said.
Titu also stressed formation of an appropriate commission to unmask masterminds of Bangabandhu killing and execution of his absconding killers to build a developed Sonar Bangla.
