A freedom fighter who fought against the occupying Pakistani forces and their collaborators during the Liberation War in 1971, has been begging door to door to maintain his family. He could not be recognized by the concerned authority in past 45 years, said, the septuagenarian Abdur Razzaque on Thursday noon at Hatgoplapur Bazer of Jhenaidah Sadar upazila during begging in the street.
Abdur Razzaque, belongs to Nijnanduali village of Magura Sadar upazila said, he was provided arms training at Kathalbagan area of Bongaon in India immediate after starting the independence war in 1971.
Responding to the call of Bangabandhu Shaikh Muzibur Rahman, he started fighting at Abaipur, Kumiradah, Mingram, Baghini and some other places of Jhenaidah under the leadership of veteran freedom fighter, also a commander in Sailkupa Rahmat Ali Mantu.
The septuagenarian freedom fighter with agitation said. He submitted his certificates and other documents to the chairman of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Abdul Ahad Chowdhury long ago. The commander had issued a certificate of Abdur Razaaque which was mentioned as the serial number 125 in Magura district.
But the name of the elderly freedom fighter could not be recognized which has been depriving him. He has been leading inhuman life with the family members.
Abdur Razzaque said, he was not provided with even an elderly card as a common citizen of the country.
Only the prime minister Shaikh Hasina, also the daughter of the great leader Bangabandhu Shaikh Muzibur Rahman could solve her crisis, he added with boldness.
Rahmat Ali Mantu, ex- commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad in Sailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah admitted that Abur Razzaque fought under his leadership in 1971 with boldness. He was issued certificate earlier. As Abdur Razzaque hailed from Magura district
Nabuwat Hossain Mollah, Magura District Unit Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad when contacted said, he was not informed about the elderly freedom fighter which might be deal by local upazila unit command.
