Elderly lawyer and freedom fighter Parimol Kanti Biswas was cremated with full state honour.
A smart contingent of Patiya thana police showed state honour to the late Parimol in the presence of Patiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer at his family graveyard in his native village Perapara of Patiya upazila 2 pm.
An active participant in the country’s liberation war, Parimol died at the age of 68, at a hospital at New Delhi on June 23 last, family sources said.
Parimol is survived by two sons, a daughter, large number of professional colleagues and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
The death of one of the senior most lawyers in Chittagong cast a pall of gloom in the district.
Parimol had been in law profession for nearly four decades, Chittagong District Bar Association sources said.
Leaders of different professional bodies including lawyers community in separate messages of condolence expressed profound shock at his death.
They conveyed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Chittagong District Bar Association and Patiya Upazila Bar Association were among the organizations, which condoled the death of Parimol.
