Ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed on saturday after five and a half hours of suspension due to dense fog. Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said the movement of ferries on the route came to a complete halt at 5 am due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river bed. Nearly 300 vehicles, including passenger buses, trucks and cars, were stranded on Paturia ghat side of the route.
The sources said out of the total 16 ferries, seven were stranded on the middle of the river. The ferry movement resumed at 10-30 am with disappearance of the fog.
