Ferdous Ara is the country’s one of the renowned Nazrul artistes who is passing 48 years of her career in the field of Nazrul songs. Star Plus Communication is going to honour her at Star Plus Communication Performance Award, which is scheduled to be held at Hotel Sonargaon on January 29 at 5:30pm. Director of the programme, Nazmul Khan confirmed the matter yesterday. Chairman of Bangladesh Satellite Co Ltd Dr Shahjahan Mahmud will be present as chief guest in the programme.
While talking about to get the special honour Ferdous Ara said, “I am grateful to them who are going to honour me in four eras of my musical career. I am really feeling honoured as the organisers selected me. I believe this award will inspire me to continue practice of Nazrul songs in future.”
In her long time career, Ferdous Ara yet not gets the state honour in the field of Nazrul songs. But she got awards from Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University at Trishal in Mymensingh and Nazrul Institute in Dhaka. She got the Lifetime Achievement Award from Channel i. Therefore, many years ago, she got award to render folk song among 72 countries organised by the United Nations Folk Festival held in Uzbekistan. Under her planning and hosting, Nazrul Utsab is being telecasted every Wednesday at 11:30pm on Channel i.
“Now I am passing busy times with Nazrul Utsab. Meanwhile, I am also working with Nazrul Samagra. I have released Ekok Konthe Hazar Gaan (thousand songs in single voice). Already its 10 parts have been released where thousand songs took place. Basically to reach Nazrul songs among the new generation, I have taken this initiative,” Ferdous Ara also said.
