Dev works stalled following feud between UP chairman , members: Female workers seeking authority’s action for restoring work in Putimari UP

A large number of female beneficiaries under Government’s 40 days work generating programme at Putimari union under Kishorganj upazila of the district staged agitation yesterday in union parishad campus demanding restoration of their work and other activities under social safety enclosure of the govt. as those are remaining suspended for more than a month following the feud between UP chairman and members.
The beneficiaries alleged that the deadlock was created, as majority UP members brought no confidence motion against chairman last month alleging financial irregularity and also showing utter dishonour to the Father of the Nation and the Prime Minister .
The members in a resolution selected Luthfor Rahman, member of ward No.4 as panel chairman and submitted it to Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari for action.
Poor beneficiaries of 40 days work programme , Fancy Begum (32) and Ayesha (33), VGD beneficiaries Tuli Begum (30), Morsheda (40) alleged that due to stallment of UP activities they were passing days in miseries and staged agitation yesterday .
High school teacher also a senior inhabitant of the union Harun Rashid said that 40 thousand inhabitants are being deprived of UP services like village court, birth and death registration, nationality certificate etc and authority should address situation immediately.
Agitated members alleged in their resolution that the chairman misappropriated Tk. 15.67 lakh from UP funds and takes autocratic decision subsiding members.
It was also mentioned in the resolution that he openly uses abusing words to
Father of the Nation and PM in the UP office despite stern objection by members.
On contact, Abu Sayem, Chairman of Putimari UP denied allegations and told that he had documentary evidence in support of his innocence and termed the action taken by his UP members as conspiracy as they are acting as puppet of his opponents.
While asked about complain of the members regarding using abusing words to Father of nation and PM sitting in his office room before the members, he categorically denied and claimed that he came of Awami League family.
Zakir Hossain, deputy commissioner of Nilphamari admitted of receiving complain of Putimari UP members and told that the situation would be handled as per local govt. rules. ” My office directed Kishorganj UNO on 13 May to investigate the matter and send report within 10 working days and to continue UP’s dev. works in special arrangement,” he added.
