A female student of Rajshahi University History Department has brought allegations of sexual harassment against an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of the University.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at ‘Chaan Chattar’ in front of the university’s Shahidullah Kola Bhaban, alleged the victim student.
The accused student is Manik Ahammed Raj, a second-year student of RU History Department. He was a follower of RU Unit BCL President Golam Kibria and an active member of Motihar hall unit BCL.
The victim was also a student of the same department.
The victim student alleged that BCL activist Manik had molested her since starting the classes of the department. After collecting phone numbers from friends, he disturbed her in different ways.
Being the elder brother of the department, she talked to him several times. At a stage of talking, he gave her proposal to build up love relation with him. Since then, she did not pic up the phone call of his. But he would have molested her repeatedly.
Following the issue, he wanted to meet with her on Tuesday afternoon. After finishing class schedule, she went to the department premises, then took her at Chaan Chattar in front of the Shahidullah Kola Bhaban of the university and gave her love proposal. But she rejected his proposal. After rejection the proposal, instantly he touched her body very badly. Now, she is suffering in insecurity on the campus, also alleged the victim student.
While contacted accused BCL activist Manik, he rejected the phone calls of the journalists.
RU unit BCL president Golam Kibria did not pick up the phone call while communicated with him.
Dr. Mortuza Khaled, chairman of the History department said, he heard the matter for the first time. He will go to the department on morning, then he will see the matter very heedfully.
RU Proctor Professor Lutfar Rahman told The New Nation , they will take legal action against the accused BCL activist Manik after getting an allegation over the sexual harassment from the victim girl.
