The examinee is fighting for life in the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, as about 80 percent of her body has been burnt.
Nurul Alam, Medical Officer of Upazila Health Complex, told The New Nation that the female examinee has suffered about 70 to 80 per cent burns. We shifted her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in view of deteriorating condition of her body.”
Meanwhile, the police neither found out the clue nor arrested anyone involved with the burn incident.
Md Moyazzem Hosen, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonagazi Model Police Station, told The New Nation on Saturday that they are giving utmost priority to the investigation of the incident and they are looking for the persons responsible.”

“Given priority to the victim’s brother, we have taken two persons (One teacher and one examinee) to the police station for interrogation. But we are not still confirmed about who are behind the incident,” the OC said.
“We have found the madrasa principal involved with the sexual harassment. That is why we arrested him and sent to the jail,” he said.
The OC also warned that no one could escape justice even they are influential.
The victim has been identified as Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa.
Mahmudul Hasan Noman, brother of Rafi, said that she went to Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa centre for appearing in the Arabic examination around 9:30am when some students, loyal to Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa Principal Sirajuddoula, took her to the roof and set her on fire.
The fire attack on Rafi followed the case lodged against the principal on charge of sexually assaulting her, Noman said.
“A few male students of the madrasa called her to the rooftop and threatened her to withdraw the case filed against Principal Maulana Siraj Ud Doula,” he claimed.
“Upon Rafi’s silence in response to the threat, the students poured kerosene on her and set her on fire before fleeing the scene,” Noman said.
Hearing the victim’s screams, teachers and other students rushed to the rooftop to see barbarous scene, said Md Nurul Amin, Upazila Secondary Education Officer, who was at the Madrasa office relating to the examination during the time of the incident.
Rafi was quickly sent to Sonagazi Health Complex and later to Feni Sadar Hospital from where doctors referred her to DMCH after primary treatment, RMO of Feni Sadar Hospital said.
Some fellow students, contrarily , claimed that it was a suicide attempt.
On Wednesday, the victim and her family members filed a case against Maulana Siraj Ud Doula, Principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, for sexually harassing her in his office.
The principal is currently under police custody in connection with the case. After his arrest on Wednesday, a group of the students demonstrated for his release.
