The private-run Anondo TV’s Pabna district correspondent Subarna Akter alias Nodi who was hacked to death by some unidentified miscreants over prior family related enmity just in front of the gate of her rented house at at Power House para in Radhanagar village of Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The family members of the slain journalist suspected that her ex-husband Rajib Hossain, and father-in-law Abul Hossain, led the murder in film style as per of revenge.
The killing was committed apart from revenge of filing a dowry case by Nodi against her es-husband Rajib. The angered accused carried the attack on her as Nodi’s elder sister Champa Begum was scheduled to testify before the court in the case on Tuesday morning, they alleged.
Champa said Rajib and his cohorts orally abused her on the court premises before the hearing on the day.
 “On the way to the hospital, my daughter told me the names of her assailants. She said Rajib, his associate Milon, and several others attacked her,” she said.
A-30 year old Nodi was attacked by four to five miscreants when she was entering home from her office around 10:00pm, leaving her critically injured, said her father Ayub Ali.
Meanwhile, Rajib’s father Abul Hossain, owner of Shimla Diagnostic and Hospital, also the prime accused of the case was arrested from the diagnostic center on Tuesday night, said Pabna’s Additional Superintendent of Police Gautam Kumar Biswas.
 “A case has been filed in this connection. We are investigating the incident and hope to arrest the perpetrators soon,” he said. Besides, the house’s caretaker Imran Hossain and several of his friends were reportedly detained by police, said Imran’s younger brother Mehedi.
 “My brother was not here at the time of the incident. He did not return home after learning about the attack. Police detained him when he returned around 2:30am,” he said. “Some of his friends have also been detained.”
According to locals, Nodi was also the Editor and Publisher local daily Jagrata Bangla. She came under the attack when she was returning to her home. Three to four miscreants riding on a motorbike hacked her and fled away soon. Hearing her screaming, Suborna’s relatives recovered her in a critical condition and admitted to Pabna General Hospital where she succumbed to death.
She got married Razib for the second term around four years ago. Rajib divorced her around two year ago and she filed a case against Rajib last year. Following the case, the murder might be committed, they mentioned.
After first marriage, Nodi had a six-year old daughter named Jannat. She also arranged a press briefing against her second husband Rajib at Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in the city’s Segunbagicha in 2016.
A protest rally was held in front of the district press club in the morning. The protesters gave an ultimatum for 48-hour to arrest the killers, said Akhiur Rahman alias Remon, General Secretary of Pabna Pres Club.
Nodi was attacked by unidentified assailants at the entrance of her house that night, after she returned from work. Her mother Morjina Begum took her to Pabna General Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead around 10:30 pm on Tuesday. She was laid to rest in her local village after Namaj-e-Janaza in the afternoon. The body was handed over to the family members earlier for funeral process after post mortems in the hospital morgue.
