Female house owner stabbed to death in city

An elderly female house owner was stabbed to death by an unidentified youth in the city’s Nakhalpara area on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Amena Begum, 65, Police said.
Quoting locals, Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teajgaon Police Station, said, “An youth entered the deceased’s house saying that he would rent a flat effective from next month (April) and visited the ground floor with Amena around 2:00am. At one stage, the youth stabbed the woman’s head, neck, chest and stomach and fled from the house instantly.”
Locals rushed to the house No 288, West Nakhalpara, of Tejgaon after hearing the screaming of Amena Begum and they found her dead in a pool of blood on the ground floor, the police official said.
He also said that the incident took place in a short time as no tenant was on the ground floor at that time.
Police have collected crime scene and other sample from the house and its adjacent buildings to investigate the murder, the OC said. “The member of law enforcing agencies are trying to nab the killer and his suspected cohorts,” he said.
The body was sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (ShSMC) morgue for an autopsy.
