Female farmers asked for homestead vegetable cultivation

Experts at a training course today asked the female farmers for expanded homestead gardening in rural areas adopting the modern agriculture technologies to increase production of chemical-free hygienic vegetables.
World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) under its Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) organised the training at its Madila Sub-centre in Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on “Production of Vegetables at Homesteads Using Modern Production Technology.”
A total of 50 extremely poor and distressed female farmers in two batches, with 25 in each of the batches, of different villages under Betdighee union of Fulbari upazila participated in the training course.
The training course was arranged to provide the female farmers with practical knowledge on the modern agriculture technologies for increasing production of hygienic vegetables in their homestead gardens, combating pests’ attacks, use of organic pesticides and fertilisers, application of sex pheromone on gourd and pumpkin variety crops.
Agriculture Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Arbindu Roy addressed the occasion as the chief guest with President of Betdighee Mohona Mohila Unnayan Forum Zannatun Ferdous in the chair.
Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP of the NGO (WVB) Badal Sangma addressed the training course as special guest.
Agriculture Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Arbindu Roy, its Agriculture Facilitator of Betdighee union Minhazul Islam and value Chain Supervisor Rawshan Zamil conducted different sessions of the training course.
The speakers said there is no alternative to adoption of the latest and modern agriculture technologies for producing more hygienic vegetables at lower costs also to maintain environmental and ecological balance in the nature.
