A section of dishonest officials of the regional sub- centre of Bangladesh Television (BTV) in Jhenaidah have allegedly felling a number of trees and selling them without any tender notice.
The DC of Jhenaidah told the working journalists that legal steps would be taken if the trees are fallen without maintaining the process.
It was observed that at least 25 trees of various species were fell down at the regional sub centre of the BTV at Gopinanthpur area on Jhenaidah-Chuadanga road. The trees were fallen as per the said order of the in-charge engineer of the sub centre Dipak Kumar Malakar, said, the day labouers involved in felling the trees.
Mango, mehegoni, jackfruit, debdaru and some other species were in the cutting list, said a day labourer Abdul Kuddus.
When the media activists visited the spot saw, a number of fallen trees were covered with the branches and leafs of various trees to hide the same.
