Staff Reporter :Dhaka North City Corporation has started felling roadside trees since Friday. The DNCC authority has claimed that they are doing it for public safety. “Some trees were planted on both sides of roads in the city in an unplanned way. It disturbs frequent movement of vehicles and pedestrians and smooth flow of water through the drains. Some trees have also become menace for public safety. Some times the trees fall upon the vehicles and pedestrians, causing severe accidents. These are the reasons, we are removing some trees,” said DNCC Mayor Annisul Haque to The New Nation yesterday. He also said that before implementing the decisions, they discussed the matter with local councilors and other prominent figures. At the same time, the DNCC is planting around five lakh fruit, wooden and flower plants in this monsoon.
