About 100 eucalyptus saplings planted on the land adjacent to Baruhas Bazar in KeorKara upazila were uprooted on Saturday night.
According to local sources, Jahangir Khandaker, son of Shah Alam Khandaker of the village planted 100 eucalyptus saplings on the land two months ago. He has been taking care of the seedlings regularly since the planting of the seedlings. “Suddenly, on Sunday morning, May 23, when I went to the sapling garden, not a single tree was found”, said Kahangir.
Later he called the people of the market and informed them about the matter. A complaint was later lodged at Tarash police station.
However, Rahela Khatun, a neighbor of the garden, said, “I saw the saplings before evening.” But in the morning I saw that there was not a single tree. I don’t know who picked them up at night.
Jahangir Alam Khandaker said, “When I filed a case in the Sirajganj court to get this place as owner, the wise magistrate gave me the verdict. Since then, Kamrul Khan, Tipu Khan, Titu Khan and Peter Khan, sons of the late Dad Ali Khan Chowdhury of my village, have been threatening me. They destroy these saplings out of enmity.
Accused Tipu Khan said that Jahangir Alam Khandaker was planting saplings.
