The 5th death anniversary of Felani was observed in her village under Nageswari upazila in Kurigram on Thursday (Jan 7).
Milad Mahfil and feeding to the poor people was arranged by her family in the noon. The adolescent Felani was shot dead by constable Amiya Ghosh of Indian Border Security Force(BSF)early hours on January 7 in 2011 while she was returning home along with her father over the barbed wire in Anantapur frontier under Phulbari upazila in the district.
Her dead body hung with barbed wire for five hours which sparked in both the country and abroad. The body wearing red frog is the symbol of border killing still now. The people of the country protested the matter to India. The Indian government also assured for trial the matter. After five years, the Indian government started trial in the BSF court two times where Amiyo Ghosh was declared as ‘Not guilty’.
Father of the deceased Felani and human rights organiaation of India filed a writ in the Indian Supreme Court. The hearing of the case is not begin till now.
Felani’s father Nurul Islam Nuru told this correspondent that he is frustrated as he will get the actual trial of the killer or not. We went to India to give witness but in vain. But we have not given up the hope of the trial.
Mother of the Flani Jahanara Begum told that I want the exemplary punishment of the killer of her beloved daughter.
