UNB, Dhaka :
BNP senior leader Abdullah Al Noman on Wednesday claimed that their party is getting huge response from different stakeholders for forming a ‘greater platform’ to tackle militancy.
“We’re in touch with different political parties and civil society members for forging a national unity. We’re drawing huge response from them,” he said. Noman, a BNP vice chairman, came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion arranged by Jatiyatabadi
Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) at the Jatiya Press Club.
A day after Gulshan terror attack, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at a press conference called for forging a national unity to eliminate militancy and terrorism. However, the ruling party and its alliance partners have turned down her call, advising her to abandon Jamaat first.
Sources at BNP said, the party is determined to float a new platform with different political parties, like Gano Forum, Bikalpa Dhara, Krishak Sramik Janata League and ASM Abdur Rab-led Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and some professionals and civil society members. Noman said, most political parties and professionals with whom they have so far contacted hailed Khaleda for taking such an initiative.
