The Ruling Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, the port city of Chittagong will also get a metro rail network at the end of Dhaka..
The minister said it on Sunday while inaugurating and unveiling plaques of seven development projects at Sarak Bhaban in Agrabad, Chittagong. A feasibility study will be conducted soon in this regard.
“It is a good news for the residents of Chittagong that the government has

taken an initiative to construct three lines of metro rail,” he said, adding that the Prime Minister had directed him to start the feasibility study of the mass rapid transit (MRT) lines very soon.
Of them, the length of the MRT line-1 will be of 26.5km, from Kalurghat to Airport, the MRT line-2 will be 13.5km from City Gate to Nimtala, and the MRT line-3 will be of 14.5km from Oxygen crossing to Firingibazar and Panchliash to AK Khan.
The project cost has been estimated for Tk 1,545 crore.
The projects include also four lanes of Chittagong-Rangamati Highway from Hathazari to Raujan, office-cum-inspection bungalow of Fatikchhari Road sub-division, electronic toll system and weighing scale of Shah Amanat Bridge and 31.82m PC Girder Bridge on Chittagong-Kaptai regional highway.
