Staff Reporter :A three-member team of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of US will extend technical support to the local investigators in probing the killing of blogger Niloy Chatterjee Neel, said Mahbub Alam, Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police.Mahbub Alam was talking to reporters after a long meeting with the FBI team at the DB office in the capital on Sunday. He said, the FBI team arrived at the office of the DB in the morning to discuss how they could help the investigation.”They will offer help in other aspects of the investigation in addition to technological assistance,” he said. The police official said, the e-mail that claimed responsibility for Niloy’s murder was sent from a place inside the territory of Bangladesh. He said Niloy’s bloodstained clothes were sent to lab for examination but refused to disclose further details for the sake of investigation. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officials said that they were investigating the case from every possible aspect and scrutinising the clues. Lt Col Abul Kalam Azad, Director of RAB’s intelligence unit, told reporters that the AQIS earlier claimed that they had killed the other bloggers. “But we do not have any evidence yet that they had committed the murders”.Besides, the DB said that they too were yet to confirm the existence of AQIS. After primary investigation, detectives have also found that it was a planned murder coordinated by several small groups. They think that the killers kept an eye on the house and watched Niloy’s movements for at least two weeks.”We have already got some clues and are investigating the murder taking those into consideration,” said Anwar Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Police’s Motijheel Division. He said that they were also checking whether Niloy had personal enmity with anyone or rivalry with any of his colleagues at the NGO he worked for.Meanwhile, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Sunday has fixed September 16 as the date for submitting the investigation report of the murder of Niloy.Metropolitan Magistrate Rashed Talukder set the date after the case documents were submitted before him.Earlier, Niloy’s wife Asha Moni had lodged a murder case at Khilgaon Police Station accusing four unidentified persons. Incidentally, before carrying out the operation to kill Niloy, the murderers might have killed the two dogs living under the stairs on the ground floor, detectives claim. They suspect that the dogs were killed so that the murderers faced no obstacles during their mission. On the other hand, a court in Dhaka on Sunday said it would record witness depositions in blogger Rajib Haider Shovon killing case on August 16. Judge Sayed Ahemed of Dhaka Speedy Trial-2 set the date. Only 5 out of 55 witnesses have testified in the case so far. Rajib was murdered in front of his house in the city on February 15 last year. His father Nazimuddin filed the case the following day.
