Meets DB police: FBI team arrives

Staff Reporter :A team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Thursday met the officials of Detective Branch of Police to inquire about the murder case of Bangladeshi-American secular writer and blogger Avijit Roy.The four-member team of FBI went to the office of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch on Thursday noon, said Monirul Islam, Joint Commissioner of Detective and Criminal Intelligence Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. However, the Joint Commissioner did not disclose the names and designations of the FBI agents. The DB official said the FBI delegation inquired about the investigation of the case.Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said the Avijit murder case was discussed during the meeting, the police official added.The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) team from the US arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday night to help investigate the murder of Avijit Roy.The blogger, 45, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonna, 35, seriously injured in an attack by unidentified assailants near the TSC on February 26.Meanwhile, Farabi Shafiur Rahman was arrested on March 2 on the charge of his alleged involvement in the killing.
