FBCCI wants ‘Health service Act’, ‘Private Medical College establishment, Operation Act’

The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) emphasized on formulation of rational and realistic ‘Health service Act’ and ‘Private Medical College establishment and operation Act’. FBCCI leaders urged government to finalize the Acts for the interest of people and the nation making it endurable for all. It may be mentioned that the said draft acts are now at finalization process in the ministry. FBCCI leaders discussed the matters at a meeting of its Standing Committee relating to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Medical Education and Family Welfare Division) held at its board room on Wednesday.
Speakers at the meeting also laid emphasis on introducing ‘Financial Service’ for the development of private sector health service.
Discussants at the meeting, put emphasis on formulation of rational and realistic ‘Health service Act’ & ‘Private Medical College establishment and operation Act’. The meeting discussed different aspects of the said acts and prepared recommendations from the private sector. It also urged the government to introduce ‘Financial service’ in establishing private medical college and hospitals like other important sectors. They requested for easy term loan and long term repayment system while sanctioning loans for this sector. The discussants also emphasized on introducing ‘Health Insurance’ for the citizens. The meeting also decided to hold a seminar with the Hon’ble Health Minister to solve major problems of this sector.
Dr. ABM Harun, Chairman of the Standing Committee presided over the meeting. Priti Chakraborty, Director In-Charge of the committee chaked out the future plans. Members of the committee also joined the meeting. FBCCI Vice-President Md. Muntakim Ashraf and its Director Hafez Harun also spoke on the occasion. Md. Muntakim Ashraf, in his speech, assured of all out cooperation from FBCCI to achieve the health related 3rd clause of Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs).
Chairmen and Managing Directors of Kumudini Women’s Medical College & Hospital, Green Life Medical College & Hospital, Delta Hospital Limited, Rangpur Community Medical College, Jahan Ara Clinic Ltd. and Health City among others, took part in the discussion.
