Business Desk :
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has urged the country’s investment development authority to ease the process for obtaining and renewing licences in order to reduce the cost of doing business.
FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin made the call at a seminar on the “Present situation of the ‘One Stop Service’ System of BIDA” jointly organised by the apex trade body and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) at the federation’s office in the capital on Thursday.
Businessmen have to spend extra money and time and go through a complex process to renew licences and certificates every year, said Jashim Uddin.
Foreign investors lose their interest to invest in Bangladesh due to these complexities, he said.
He demanded withdrawal of the annual renewal policy and said the government organisations may audit but the renewal policy should not exist.
“The safety and security related certificates have to be collected from 8 to 10 organisations. All the safety and security certificates should be issued from a single organisation.”
Steps will be taken according to the One Stop Service Act if any organisation does not get service from the OSS system by the declared time, Bida Executive Chairman Md Sirajul Islam said at the event.
