A Discussion Meeting between a Georgia Delegation and the Business Leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) was held at FBCCI on Tuesday, said a press release.
David Jalagania, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia led the delegation. FBCCI President Md. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin presided over the meeting where Archil Dzuliashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Bangladesh and Nana Gaprindashvili, Head of Division of Asian Countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgia. FBCCI First Vice-President Sheikh Fazle Fahim,Vice-President Md. Muntakim Ashraf and the Directors of FBCCI also attended the meeting.
FBCCI President Md. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin briefed the delegation on the current economic development of the country. He mentioned that Bangladesh has developed hugely in infrastructure, power communication and some other sectors. He mentioned that Bangladesh has achieved consistent GDP growth of over 6 percent during the last couple of years and gained above 7.24 percent GDP growth in the last year.
Mohiuddin also mentioned about the liberal and lucrative policy adopted by the government for investment in the Economic Zones. He also invited the Georgian Business Community to establish Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bangladesh like China and India. He also mentioned about the ‘tax holiday’ and ‘duty free facility’ Bangladesh enjoys in exporting to many countries, adding that, the Georgian investors can take these opportunities.
David Jalagania expressed his thanks and gratitude to FBCCI from the Georgian Government and the Georgian Chamber of Commerce. He mentioned that, though the bilateral trade between Georgia and Bangladesh is unmentionable, a new door of business can be opened after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today.
