FBCCI, KCC sign MoU to boost two-way trade, investment

The visiting business leaders of Kuwait have expressed their keen interest to invest in different sectors of Bangladesh.
They also emphasized on expansion of bilateral trade with Bangladesh. The Kuwait business leaders also invited the Bangladesh businessmen to invest in Kuwait utilizing their ‘Free Zone’ facility.
They urged this at a meeting between the Business Leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI) and the business delegation of Kuwait Chambers of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) at a city hotel on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both the chamber leaders signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate exchange of business delegation, business networking and information exchange etc.
Abdul Wahab M. Al Wazzan, Vice Chairman of KCCI and the former Commerce Minister of Kuwait led the Kuwait delegation. The KCCI Leaders are visiting Bangladesh as the entourage of Kuwait Prime Minister, Sheikh Jaber Al – Mubarak Al- Hamad Al- Sabah
Mohammad Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin), acting President of FBCCI led the FBCCI team while Mahbubul Alam, Vice President of FBCCI and Directors also attended.
The FBCCI leaders, at the meeting invited the Kuwait businessmen to invest in different sectors of Bangladesh such as, power, infrastructure, theme park, fashion industry and specially in an economic zone.
They also requested their counterparts to easy the visa processing for Bangladeshi workers, duty free quota free (DFQF) access of Bangladeshi products to Kuwait and also to form a ‘Joint Business Council’.
Addressing the Meeting, Abdul Wahab M. Al Wazzan said that there is ample scope for expansion of bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Kuwait. He urged the Bangladesh businessmen to export more products to Kuwait.
Abdul Wahab M. Al Wazzan also invited the FBCCI leaders to participate effectively in different development projects in Kuwait.
It may be mentioned that the Bangladesh export to Kuwait in 2014-2015 was 17.13 Million US $ and the import from Kuwait was of 859.86 Million US $.
