From now on, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) will work with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to help the government tap huge overseas manpower market sending skilled workforce.
An agreement to this effect was signed between the FBCCI and the IOM at the federation’s conference room here Saturday.
FBCCI Secretary General Mir Shahabuddin Mohammad and Chief of Mission of IOM in Bangladesh Sarat Dash signed the agreement on behave of respective sides. Dash led the five-member IOM delegation.
FBCCI president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, first vice-president Monowara Hakim Ali, vice-president M Helal Uddin, President of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) Shahjalal Majumdar and directors, among others, joined the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the FBCCI president described the migration issue as an important one for Bangladesh and said facilities for Bangladesh migrant workers are limited.
The federation is keen to work with the IOM to address all challenges in the way of safe migration, he said.
