FBCCI held meeting with Netherland’s representative

Leaders of the FBCCI expressed interest to get more engagement with the World Trade Organization (WTO) for necessary trade information and resources while WTO Representative advised private sector leaders of Bangladesh to get engaged with ‘WTO Public Forum’ and the ‘WTO Data Center’ for mutual cooperation and benefit.
The discussion was held at a meeting between Monique Van Daalen, WTO-LDC Sub-Committee Chairman and Netherlands Permanent Representative and Ambassador in Geneva and the FBCCI leaders at FBCCI office yesterday.
FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Senior Vice President Sheikh F Fahim and Vice President Md Muntakim Ashraf took part in the discussion. Mentioned about the role of private sector in the fast-growing development activities of the country, FBCCI President said, “FBCCI along with its member bodies working with the government to ensure a conducive business environment in the country.
He also said that, after the Rana Plaza incident Bangladesh has done a great job with significant improvement regarding the safety issues. The FBCCI Chief requested the Ambassador to deliver her positive experience to WTO about the visit to Bangladesh.
Monique Van Daalen expressed her great satisfaction over Bangladesh’s success in different socio-economic sectors. The experience she earned from this visit will be useful in the WTO Committee functions, she added.
