FBCCI leaders on Monday urged the government to find and bring to task the unscrupulous traders who recently caused an unusual price hike in the egg and poultry market.
The call was made at a view exchange meeting with the stakeholders on the current essential goods market and its price situation at the FBCCI auditorium in the capital.
“The poultry industry is contributing a lot in our country’s economy and employment. However, due to some dishonest traders, the whole sector has gained a bad rap. We want the government to find out the culprits and bring them to task,” FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin said at the meeting.
Attending the meeting virtually, he urged all businesses to take profit instead of looking for profit by fabricating a crisis and keeping the general people under pressure.
Meanwhile, FBCCI Senior Vice President Mostafa Aad Babu urged the government to decide which ministry will monitor the essential goods market and who will fix the products prices.
Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) Director General AHM Shafiquzzaman said. “After conducting a drive, the prices of eggs and poultry came down vastly. Therefore it is clear that there has been manipulation. We will file a case against the manipulators.”
