Speakers at a meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee relating to Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief was held on Thursday at FBCCI Conference Centre, said a press release. The speakers emphasized on pre and post disaster preparations, awareness building and necessary training of the rescuers to face any disaster in the country.
Discussants, at the meeting praised the role of Government and the voluntary Organizations in the disaster situations in past. Bangladesh is a role model in disaster management even for the developed nations, they mentioned. Recently, Bangladesh has achieved international recognition by providing shelter to millions of Rohingya people. However, they suggested that the country needs to be more capable for facing disasters like flood, earthquake, cyclone etc. The business leaders also emphasized on the necessity of equipment and proper training for the rescuers. They also mentioned about increasing budget for managing disasters. The discussants announced themselves for working as ‘volunteer to face disasters’ from now on.
Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun, Chairman of the Standing Committee, presided over the meeting. Alhaj Azizul Haque, Director-in-Charge of the committee, presented the detailed plan of the committee.
