Fazle Mahmud scored a magnificent unbeaten ton as Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club registered their fourth victory in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League beating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 56 runs in the sixth round match on Monday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
The left-handed batsman Mahmud blasted 101-ball off 120, an innings that contained five boundaries and six over boundaries and during the process he also shared 82-run second wicket stand with opener Liton Das, who chipped away 69, after Doleshwar lost Imtiaz Hossain for 33.
Later, Zohaib Khan’s run-a-ball 38 runs helped Doleshwar to post a challenging total of 293 for 6 from their allotted 50 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Sheikh Jamal.
Robiul Haque picked up two Doleshwar’s wickets for 36 runs.
In reply, Sheikh Jamal fell short as they were all out for 237 in 45 overs, despite a fighting century by their skipper Nurul Hasan.
Nurul hammered 88-ball off 100 run featuring seven boundaries and one over boundary but he failed to get any support from the other end to chase the total as Hasanuzzaman (36), Elias Sunny (31) and Ziaur Rahman (17) were the other three Sheikh Jamal’s batsmen, who were able to reach the double figure.
Farhad Reza, the wrecker in-chief, caused the major damage as he grabbed four Sheikh Jamal’s wickets conceding 56 runs while Arafat Sunny captured two wickets for 56.
Fazle Mahmud of Doleshwar was named the player of the match.
