Favorite Malaysia and strong Egypt maintained their all-win record in the eight-nation Round-2 match of the Hockey World League beating their rivals at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
Top seed Malaysia topped the Pool A list outplaying Oman by 6-1 goals while Egypt dominated the Pool B defeating China by 3-2 goals in penalty shootout as the match was locked in 2-2 goals in the schedule time.
Earlier, Malaysia made a good start beating hosts Bangladesh 3-0 in their first match Saturday while Egypt made flying start beating Sri Lanka by 6-2 goals in their opening match on the same day.
For Malaysia, Aiman Nik Rosemi struck two field goals in the 42nd and 53rd minutes respectively while Tengku Ahmed also scored twice, first in the 33rd minute from a penalty corner and other was a field goal scored in the 48th minute.
Shahril Saabah and Razie Rahim scored the remaining two goals for Malaysia in the 11th and 26th minutes respectively.
Mohammed Al Lawati scored the consolation field goal for Oman in the 37th minute.
In the day’s other match, came from behind, Egypt beat China by 3-2 goals in tie breaker after 2-2 in stipulated period.
Jin Guo put China ahead in the 3rd minute by a field goal while Talake Du doubled the Chinese margin in the 9th minute from a penalty corner (2-0).
Ahmed Elnaggar and Mahmud Mamdouh scored two consecutive goals in the 28th and 53rd minutes respectively enabling Egypt to settle for 2-2 draw in the regulation time.
Later in penalty shoot, Egypt beat China by 3-2 goals to win the match.
In the day’s other match, Ghana beat Sri Lanka by 5-4 goals.
