Staff Reporter :Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday withdrew Khilgaon Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam Sheikh on charge of his negligence of duty over a snatching and murder incident in the city’s Goran area on Thursday night. The decision was taken suspecting his connection with the incident, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said. The OC has been attached to the DMP’s Police Line after withdrawal from the Khilgaon Police Station, the DC said. Khilgaon Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Wahiduzzaman said that Mujibur Rahman, uncle of deceased Sharif Hossain Simon, filed a case on Friday with the police station against three to four unidentified muggers.Meanwhile, the body of Simon was handed over to his family members after autopsy in the DMCH, while his severely injured father was undergoing treatment at National Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Institute in Dhaka, he said. He further said that police could not arrest anybody in connection with the murder. However efforts are on to catch them. Miscreants shot Sharif Hossain Simon, 30, dead and severely injured his father Israfil Hossain, 58, owner of Universal Money Exchange at Motijheel, and took away currencies worth around Tk 48 lakh from in front of their residence in Khilgaon on Thursday night, the police official said. The miscreants opened fire when Simon and his father Israfil got down from their private car near the Khilgaon Fire Service Station at Shantipar, Goran around 8:30pm, police and locals said.They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Simon dead around 9:30pm, Assistant Sub-Inspector Haider Ali of DMCH police camp said. Simon was hit by bullets in his chest, the police officer said.
