Father and son have been seriously injured in an attack by the opposition centered on the occupation of a government pond in Bhangura of Pabna on Wednesday.. The injured were identified as Golam Hossain (43), and his son Rajib Hossain (15). The incident took place at GadaiRupai village in Ashtamanisha union of the upazila . While writing the report in the afternoon, they are fighting to the death in the hospital bed.
According to the locals, Golam Hossain had been occupying the pond for a long time by leasing it from Bhangura land office. A few days ago, Mozammel Hossain of the same village claimed the pond as his own by showing fake documents.
On Wednesday noon, Golam Hossain installed a shallow machine to irrigate the reservoir. Then Ismail Hossain’s son MadhuPramanik (50), Mozammel Hossain (45), Munnaf Hossain (33) and Mozammel’s son Faisal Hossain (18) attacked them with sharp weapons.
The assailants struck Golam Hossain with a knife and almost severed his wrist. They cut the throat of Golam Hossain’s son Rajib and inflicted bloody wounds. The villagers moved forward and the attackers moved away. They were later rescued and admitted to BhanguraUpazila Health Complex.
Duty doctor Dr. SawgatEhsan at BhanguraUpazila Health Complex, informed the critical condition of the injured. Rajeev’s neck was also hit by something sharp, causing deep seizures. They were sent to Pabna Sadar Hospital in the afternoon.
M Faisal bin Ahsan OC of Bhangura Police Station confirmed the incident and said the case was under process. Police are on the scene to arrest the accused.
