A father and his son were killed and two of their relatives were injured in a head-on collision between a private car and a covered van on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chandina upazila on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as ex-joint secretary of Burichang upazila unit Joubo League Quazi Jasim, 45, son of Quazi Khalilur Rahman, hailing from Varashar village in Burichang upazila, and Jasim’ s son Quazi Jamil, 13.
Police and locals said Jasim along with his son and two relatives was returning to Comilla from Dhaka driving a private car.
When they reached Chandina upazila gate, a Dhaka-bound covered van collided head-on with their car, leaving Jasim dead on the spot and three others of the car injured.
Later, the injured were whisked off to a hospital in Dhaka where Jamil succumbed to his injuries around 4pm.
Sub-inspector of Moynamoti Highway Police Station Amar Chandra Das confirmed the incident.
