Staff Reporter :A man allegedly slaughtered his three daughters at Nidartarani village of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar district early Friday. The victims were identified as Ayesha Siddiqa, 10, student of class II, Shiru Jannat Sheuli, 8, a madrasah student, and one-and-a-half-year-old Sharaban Tahura, while the accused was identified as rickshawpuller Abdul Ghani, 42, police said.Officer-in-Charge (OC) Probhash Chandra of Chakaria Police Station said that Ghani often tortured his wife Fatema, 35, for a long time. Arbitration was held in the office of the Badarkhali Union Parishad on Thursday last, but there was no reconciliation. So, Fatema went to her father’s house for security reason.Once Fatema complained to local UP member Khairul Basher that her husband tortured her off and on. Khairul Basher rebuked Ghani and that made him more furious and he threatened to kill Fatema, the police official said.”Fatema’s family members said that Ghani phoned Fatema’s brother Asgar Ali early in the morning and asked them to take care of the children. Receiving the phone call, Fatema and Asgar rushed to the residence and found the children slaughtered. Ghani went into hiding by that time,” the OC said.Ghani was involved in an extra marital affair and that is why he tortured his wife Fatema, the Police Officer said. This might be the cause of murder.A case had been filed in this connection, the OC said. “We are trying to arrest Abdul Ghani who is at large,” he said.
