The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Shaheen Alam in connection with the alleged suicide of his 21-year-old daughter Sanjana Mosaddika, who wrote a suicide note blaming her father as “abusive and a rapist”
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said this in a press briefing at its media centre in the city’s
Karwan Bazar on Wednesday. Shaheen Alam was arrested from Gaforgaon of Mymensingh, he said.
On August 27, Sanjana Mosaddika’s mother filed a case with Dakkshinkhan Thana against Shahin Alam for instigating her daughter to commit suicide.
Sanjana, a third semester student of the English department at the BRAC University, committed suicide by jumping from the roof top of a 10-storey building in Dakkshinkhan area of the capital. She was rushed to a local hospital, as her condition deteriorated she was later taken to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR). Later, she was declared dead by the duty doctors.
Police seized a suicide note that blamed her father as ‘abusive and a rapist’.
