Bldg collapse: Father, daughter among 3 killed in Rangamati

At least three people, including a man and his daughter, were killed as a 2-storey building collapsed at Reserve bazar in Rangamati town on Tuesday evening.
The victims were identified as Zahid, 40, his daughter Pinky, 11, and her house tutor Umme Habiba, 22, said Assistant Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) of Rangamati district Chittaranjan Pal.Seventeen members of four families had been living in the building as tenants. Among them, bodies of the three victims were recovered, two others are believed to be trapped inside the building, while rest are safe, Chittaranjan told UNB adding that they are not confirmed yet whether the two people are alive.
Sources at the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters Control Room in Dhaka said they received the message of building collapse at around 5:50 pm.
Three firefighting units rushed to the spot while two more units have been sent from Chittagong to join the rescue operation, said Inspector Mahmudul Hoque of the FSCD control room.
A portion of the building collapsed on the lake, he said and adding that members of Army have been carrying out rescue operation alongside divers of the FSCD.
