AKM Nurul Alam, father of physician Iqbal Mahmud, who was abducted from the capital’s Science Laboratory area, said on Saturday, he thinks that his son is under the custody of the administration.
“The law enforcers are avoiding us. This creates a
doubt about their sincerity to find him. A police van was seen there wherefrom my son was picked up.” said Nurul Alam in a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU).
Muhammed Iqbal Mahmud, posted in the Health Directorate as an medical officer, was picked up by seven to eight persons in a microbus shortly after he got down from a bus at the Science Laboratory intersection at about 3:10am on October 15.
“I am not satisfied with what they are doing in the name of searching for his son,” said Nurul Alam, adding that Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) informed him that they had formed a committee and set up check posts at different places.
“But they spoke nothing about a microbus, a motorcycle and a police van which were seen on the spot, nor they disclosed anything in last two months about the vehicles headed from the Science Laboratory crossing.”
Investigation Officer of the case Arifur Rahman said, they have been trying to find the abducted medical officer of the health directorate, but there is no breakthrough yet. The RAB is also investigating without any progress.
