A man has been arrested for trying to rape his 13-year-old daughter in Rupganj upzaila of Narayanganj district.
Police arrested Anwar Hossain, son of late Kadam Ali from Adhla area of the upazila, and sent him to a court on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier, the teenager filed a case against her father, said Rupganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mahmudul Hasan.
“We sought remand from the court for interrogating Anwar,” he added.
According to the case statement, the girl lives with her maternal grandparents as her mother lives abroad. On Saturday, the father took the girl to a nearby field around 2am and tried to rape her.
Anwar managed to flee as the girl started screaming. Later, she informed her grandparents and filed the case with their help.
After the case was filed, Anwar was arrested from his own house, said Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam, in-charge of Rupganj Bholab police investigation centre.
