The fate of hundreds of students of different colleges under National University (NU) has become uncertain after the University Administration published the 4th year final result with many mistakes.
More than one lakh students appeared in the examinations, but the University’s website has shown some of them absent and some others unsuccessful.
In this context, the affected students feel helpless although the NU authorities have assured them of correcting their results if they apply.
The Vice-Chancellor of National University Professor Harun-or-Rashid admitted the fact and said they were working to resolve the problem.
An official of the NU wishing anonymity told this correspondent that the students’ suffering are the outcome of the negligence of the ICT department of the University
The Head of the Political Science Department of Eden Girls’ College said that they contacted with the University Authority and became confirmed that the mistakes occurred due to the software problem.
“Irresponsibility on the part of the concerned officials is earning bad image for the University. The current problem should be resolved soon in the interest of the university as well as the students,” he said.
Meanwhile, a good number of students will go to the NU campus in Gazipur with application to get the accurate results. Many of the students will also apply on the online in this regard.
Abdul Hakim, a student who took part in 4th year final examination, told this correspondent that he attended 10 examinations, but the result showed that he was absent in two examinations.
“I attended all the final examinations of 4th year. I have document in favour of my claim. But I am yet to get any solution. My life will be destroyed if I could not get good response from the University,” he said.
A student seeking anonymity said that he passed all the examination except one subject. He claimed that his performance was good in all the subjects. For the mistake of the university, he failed in one subject, he alleged.
Meanwhile, on Sunday the students staged demonstration in front of the Academic Building of the university demanding positive action immediately.
They alleged that the university published the 4th year final result with many mistakes due to their negligence.
About one hundred and fifty students took part in the demonstration started on 10 am and ended 1pm.

The students, however, threatened for tough movement if their demand was not met soon. The NU authorities on Sunday sent a press release to the media where it said that the University administration would re-examine the students’ answer papers if they apply to the university for correction.
